MobileMe woes… part 2
After I sent an email back to Don that summed up said, “I’m not doing this, I’ve done this already.. several times today”, Don escalated my support ticket to MobileMe engineering. I was asked for permission for the engineering team to access my account and asked again for the symptoms of my problem. For those following along at home:
Typically the issues seem to occur around 12-3 PM Eastern time. The symptoms include the following:
- Inability to connect to smtp.me.com to send emails.
- Inability to connect to mail.mac.com to retrieve emails
- Delay (5 and 10 minutes) where changes made in Mail.app appear on my iPhone or vice versa.
- The need to manually refresh MobileMail.app on my iPhone in order to pull IMAP changes to the iPhone
- While having these problems, I am able to send email using my google business account.
- My co-worker who is on MobileMe [USER NAME REDACTED] experiences no problems using MobileMe
- The problems seem to resolve on their own roughly 10-20 minutes after they occur
- Emails that were unable to be sent during this time sit in my Outbox in Mail.app until I physically re-send them (this may be a software feature, just detailing all of the things I notice)
- These issues will occur while working from my home on a different network and network configuration.
I also found out that another user, who lives near me and signed up for MobileMe at the same time is having the same issues.
